My take on atheism

I don't have anything against atheism. (pardon my spelling) I have a few questions about it. 1. how do you live withouut a belief?
2. what happens when you die?
3. Is your life pointless then?

  1. As I can not speak for anyone other than myself, as atheists do not have a subscribed belief system, I will give you what I feel is a general outline.

    How do I live?
I live with a reasonable outlook on life, through a journey of self discovery and education in all the things within my reach. In short, I live, I laugh, and I learn.

    What happens when you die?

Well, from what science knows thus far, our body's slowly decay, the brain, which is the control center, shuts down, and the process continues to the point where what once was a person is now unrecognizable matter.

    Is our life pointless then?

Pointless? It's all the more invaluable. From an atheist's perspective, we were lucky enough to be born in the first place, due to the thousands of other combinations of genetic matter that could havet replaced us, and as we think this is the only life we have, how much more precious can it be to us than that?

The majority of religions spend their time preparing for the afterlife, but for atheists, this life is the only shot we have.

So no, life is not pointless without a belief, it's a great mystery waiting to be solved, an educational rollercoaster, and one in a million experience for us all.

    T.A.T.

  3. from my lack of understanding an athiest believes in well they don't believe in a god created by man. I think I am an athiest because I choose not to follow any strict teaching of such. what happens when I die is as known to me as much as what will happen tomorrow.

The Only thing I know is what I learn and how I feel. I know what is right and wrong. if we are living thinking beings here, there must in my opinion be more. Some call it heaven, others say paradise, I just say the next level.

    what happens when I die?
well this body stops functioning. where does the "I" go , the part that thinks (me). I don't know. But to believe that some people wrote a book called the bible for example and they know because they say their god came and told them. I should believe a god would stop what its doing and pop over to earth to make up a few rules then go away and let us beings suffer, I can't believe that.
Life is not pointless, Every action effects other beings. So I try to act in a way to cause possitive results.
reading up I see T.A.T. man you have to read page. awesome writin IMO

  4. I won't tell you what's wrong or right but, I'm a Roman catholic and i believe God will come down a save us all one day whether it be a day or ten million years from now. To me he will come. when i die my soul will leave my body. Besides what's the point of living if we were just accidents in the universe that made itself. I mean technically nothing should exist. right?

  5. 1. Atheists live without a belief by having a heartbeat, brain activity, yaddda yadda yadda... Belief is not required of this life.

    2. Everything we know about organic matter says that when a living creature dies, the organs stop functioning, the body starts to decay, and a person looses all conciousness. Anything else is mere speculation.

    3. An atheist's life is not pointless. Everyone's "point" is subjective. There is no absolute meaning to life. That's ok.
